Essential Duties and Responsibilities : I. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Plan and coordinate the installation of network hardware and software across the organization's network. • Design and implement strategic plans to ensure network capacity meets existing and future requirements. • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for network resource administration. • Develop and deploy methodologies for testing network performance and providing performance statistics and reports. • Manage and ensure the optimal operation of all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, UPSs, and standby generators. • Manage and ensure the effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection and protection systems. • Conduct research and make recommendations on network products and services. • Assist in negotiations with vendors and contractors. • Administer all network equipment hardware and software upgrades. • Establish backup and restore strategies and test plans for network recovery. • Maintain regular communication with the unit manager and end users. • Manage network asset management, including inventory and documentation. • Define and document network infrastructure and configurations. • Establish service level agreements with end users. • Ensure IT infrastructure and applications are available 24/7. • Monitor security threats and implement necessary measures.

Basic Purpose of Position
The Network Administrator I is tasked with overseeing and managing the organization's network infrastructure to ensure its reliability, security, and efficiency. This role includes planning, implementing, and maintaining network hardware and software, as well as designing strategies to meet current and future network requirements. The Network Administrator I is responsible for network performance monitoring, security management, and the administration of network resources. This position is pivotal in enabling seamless communication and data flow within the organization, thereby supporting its operational and strategic objectives.

You will be subject to Belize Constitution (Public Service) Regulations (BCPSR), 2014, Financial and Stores Orders, Finance and Audit (Reform) Act and any other instructions issued from time to time.
Qualifications/Experience
a. Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • 3-5 years of experience supporting computer networks. • Certifications will be an asset: • Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTlA Network+, or equivalent. • with advanced certifications (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTlA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)). b. Experience: • Proven experience with network infrastructure design, implementation, and management. • Experience with network monitoring and performance tuning tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark). • Proficiency in configuring and managing network devices (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls). • Strong understanding of network security protocols and practices. • Experience with virtual private networks (VPNs), wide area networks (WANs), and local area networks (LANs). • Experience with cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Competencies/Skills
Competence/Skills: Technical: • Extensive knowledge of legacy and current innovations in network technologies. • Technical knowledge of network operating systems. • Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting network hardware. • Proficiency with network protocols and standards (e.g., TCP/IP, ISO). • Strong knowledge of security deployment and administration. • Experience supporting enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, and VPNs. • Experience with installing network cables and patching. • Project management skills and supervisory capabilities. • Ability to implement and troubleshoot changes and modifications • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise. • Ability to write detailed professional technical and non-technical reports. Excellent decision making, judgment, analytical and planning skills; Supervisory capabilities are a plus.
