Essential Duties and Responsibilities : ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • OVERSEES the supervision of the district offices of the Family Support and Gender Affairs Department, in collaboration with office supervisors, to foster the development and implementation of national programs and policies. This ensures the effective delivery of services related to family support, gender integration, economic empowerment, disabilities, and elderly programs in alignment with all relevant policies and procedures. • DEVELOPS and directs the strategic growth and operational objectives for the Family Support and Gender Affairs Department. • ASSISTS in preparing annual budget for input into the Ministry’s overall budgetary process. • SUPPORTS the Director in the policy development process and advises on policy formulation and implementation concerning the welfare of families and vulnerable populations within the Family Support and Gender Affairs Department. This includes ensuring that policies align with the department's strategic goals in areas such as family support, gender integration, gender base violence, economic empowerment, disabilities, and elderly care services. • MONITORS and advises on the usage of the department’s resources (human, material, financial) to ensure effective management and proper accountability. • ASSISTS in providing leadership and oversight in the design, coordination, and implementation of key initiatives such as family support services, gender equality programs, gender base violence programs, economic empowerment efforts, and programs supporting individuals with disabilities and the elderly. • CONSULTS and advises the Chief Executive Officer, Director, and other Management Team members within the Family Support and Gender Affairs Department on matters relating to family support, gender integration, gender base violence, economic empowerment, and services for vulnerable populations. • PREPARES reports and other publications on support services to clients to inform the Director and other stakeholders on the progress of the work programs and the achievement of the goals of the department. • CONDUCTS monthly physical visits to district offices with the team to monitor daily operations and identify areas of improvement in service delivery to the public and stakeholders. • CONDUCTS public awareness activities that promote gender equality, economic empowerment, and support for individuals with disabilities and the elderly by providing training and sensitization session, organizing community events, advocacy efforts, and public awareness campaigns. • PROVIDES mentorship to Human Development Coordinators within the Family Support and Gender Affairs Department to nurture their capacity to determine the appropriate type and level of support and intervention required to assist clients to maximize self-determination.
Reporting Responsibility : REPORTING RESPONSIBILITY: The Deputy Director will report to the Director of the Family Support and Gender Affairs Department.

Basic Purpose of Position
BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Deputy Director is responsible for assisting the Director of Family Support and Gender Affairs Department in providing administrative and technical supervision across all district offices within the Ministry of Human Development, Families and Indigenous People’s Affairs. This role involves coordinating, developing, and implementing programs and projects that enhance the effective delivery of services across Family Support Services, the Gender Integration Unit, the Economic Empowerment Unit, BOOST Services, the Disabilities Desk, and Elderly Programs.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE: The Conditions of service will be in accordance with the Belize Constitution (Public Service) Regulations, 2014, Financial and Store Orders, Finance and Audit (Reform) Act and any other instructions issued from time to time.
Qualifications/Experience
QUALIFICATIONS: Recognized Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Anthropology, Social Science or Developmental Studies. Plus Specialized training in Social Work, Administration and Planning, Case Management, Public Sector Management, and policies related to gender equality, gender base violence, economic empowerment, disabilities, and elderly care. Proficiency in the use of computer applications for word processing, spreadsheet development, presentation software, and other related programs necessary for effective management and reporting. In-depth knowledge of relevant laws and policies guiding the operations of Family Support Services, Gender Integration, Gender Base Violence, Economic Empowerment, BOOST Services, and programs for individuals with disabilities and the elderly. Plus At least Five (5) years’ experience working as a manager in area of Social Work. Demonstrates, experience in policy execution and management, managing and supporting a professional staff, and fostering a productive team environment that motivates and inspires others to action to achieve the Unit’s goals and objectives and being a trusted member of a senior level executive team.
